Today I had my first Devonshire sandwich, and it was basically bread
(toasted), turkey, and cheese sauce. It was rather good. I live in Pittsburgh, PA and the city claims to be the place of origin for this sandwich. Would anyone know if this type of sandwich goes by another name? I know that the egg mcmuffin is basically eggs benedict if my memory serves me correctly, so I thought that someone in this area decided to name a popular sandwich, that did not have a name, after a street in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh. Thanks Tom |
