Well, thanks to everyone's suggestions, I came up with what I think turned
out to be a decent soup! Thank you all!

Boo-t-ful! Looks very yummy... I'll be right over.

I'm ashamed to say I had Chinese take-out for dinner... orange chicken
and something they called chicken chow mein... picked it up at the mall
after grocery shopping at Price Chopper up in Glenmont, NY... sucked.
I shoulda known by the name; "South Wok". Pork Flied Glits! LOL

Me, too! And I can't get it here without about 2 inches of pure grease on
the top. No thanks, I'll make my own. Today is Egg Foo Yung! (I'm on an
Asian binge.)

Wow girl! That looks "just like downtown" as my mom used to say! ;-)

I might have to try that one of these days. I've made won tons, but
never tried to make soup with them.

Did TFM like it?

Ok, recipe please? <G>
It really did look divine!
Those were bean sprouts in there, correct?
Chicken, celery, Carrots... what were the leaves? Cabbage?

Yep, PORK, carrots, celery, onion, cabbage, bean sprouts, garlic,
ginger.......

Inside the wontons, I used pork, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, onion and sesame
oil.

The broth was just 2 parts chicken stock and 2 parts water. Simple, yet
very tasty!

Why'd you dilute the broth? It looked pretty pale to me. Otherwise it
looked gorgeous. Very picture perfect.

Chinese don't make stocks that are very meaty-rich, they tend to let
the other ingredients predominate... just like with much of their
dishes the Chinese are not heavy handed with meats, in fact they
consider the meat more of a mild flavoring rather than the main event.
Goomba, you're just too used to Jewish penicillin, deeply golden yellow
with lotsa cholesterol raising fat globules afloat... that's why you
have those zoftog child bearing hips and D cups! LOL

I thought it might be too salty, so I diluted it. I didn't use homemade
because I didn't have it. There, truth be told. :~)

<slaps head> Oh THAT is why!?! I'd forgotten I'd sent you a picture of
me holding the baby!
You're right course, I am thinking of soup like "Jewish Penicillin"
which is richer. Of course my Chinese carry out folks also seem to make
a golden won ton soup and I can't quite figure out how they get it that
yellow?

Maybe they make it out of yellow chickens?

Very simple and delicious sounding!
Just like mom used to teach me.... Keep it simple. :-)

Thanks luv!
I tend to forget about sesame oil sometimes since I use a lot of sesame
seeds, but that oil is so fragrent! I am careful to use it drop-wise. <G>

I know, I ran out of pork! My husband didn't shave enough of the loin. I'm
making shrimp wontons today.

It's all good either way... :-)

Soon's dad gets home from Austin, I can finish the series I'm working on.
Might not post them right away but at least the folder will be made up.

I love wonton soup. I keep packs of wrappers in the frig for spur of the
moment makings. But tonight I cooked up the ham bone and made French
Canadian Split Pea soup. Yum!
