What's this? I said to myself and clicked on the catalogue. Good
heavens, a marketing innovation, it comes with a video clip - I bet they sell squillions of the things. Actually, it looks not a bad gadget if you don't have a mortar and pestle. Even if you don't want one, the video is fun. http://tinyurl.com/13grk Christine |

A PLASTIC EGG WITH A MARBLE! This thing is a few months away from appearing in "Dollar Stores", just like Emeril's barbeque sauces which happen to taste, (and made with the same "fine" ingredients), as the $.69 store brand barbeque sauces. Thanks for the laugh. |

And if Sonny Bryan's decides to impulse-market, I'm probably going to gain back that 80 pounds... Do any of these contain liquid smoke? How 'bout corn syrup? What about sodium content? |

For one thing, there is not enough pressure from the "marble" to truly crush things, just "bruise" them, and in cases where olive oil is added (that was shown twice in the video), the ingredients are stuck all over the marble and interior of the container and you'd need to scrape them out with your fingers. Feh. You can get a mortar and pestle much cheaper and it works better, too. Boron |

One use is all it'd take for me (I'm very graceless)! Hm, "how many shakes does it take to make the marble disappear?" <g>. Sky |

Just not something I'd want to be washing by hand. I could just see that marble going down the drain a time or two. Lynne |

Blair, have you ever tried Sweet Baby Ray's? If it is available where you are, try the hot & spicy one. It's quite good. > > Until Famous Dave's or Texas Roadhouse goes that route (you > can buy bottles in the restaurants now, in case you need the > good stuff for, uh, company). > > And if Sonny Bryan's decides to impulse-market, I'm probably > going to gain back that 80 pounds... > > --Blair |

Time to revise that notion, as predicted. >I buy Famous Dave's at the supermarket....... I knew they'd started selling things at Costco, didn't know they'd moved into normal groceries. And of course just about every FD's has a retail section near the takeout window. What's the back label say? Someone just asked about liquid smoke. I highly doubt Dave's has such a shortcut in it. And I'd be totally gobsmacked if Sonny Bryan's did. --Blair |

The reason I posted the link wasn't actually because of the product, it was because of the marketing gimmick. I got quite a start when this video clip commenced without warning. Is this the way of the future? As it happens, I think the thing might sell quite well here. JO is currently performing to sellout crowds around the country, and I would be amazed if he wasn't demonstrating his little gizmo as part of the show. Christine |
