Default OT - Russian "tea"

I've been given a herbal "tea" mixture by a Russian colleague at work, who
knows I love green teas and that I'm a diabetic; this is what his tea
supplier back home recommended. We have a communication problem in as much
as the ingredients are in Russian so I can't read them, and he's not up on
common plant names, so although we've found a couple of Latin plant names,
I'm not hugely the wiser.

Does anyone have any idea what Russian diabetics drink, and if this stuff is
likely to harm me?! The major ingredient seems to be a common weed called
fireweed. I've spent many a happy afternoon searching this stuff for
Elephant Hawk Moth caterpillars, but I never planned to drink any : )

Nicky.

Hi Nicky,

Here is a good link to a photo and description of fireweed
and it's uses:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fireweed . I've seen that
growing here in the Ozarks.

Cheers, Wizzzer

Thanks, Wizzer - nice to know it's not poisonous, anyway : )
