Just looked up: unripe tomatoes, they seem to be poisonous. Maybe you use a different type of tomato all together, one that is supposed to be green.. :-? Its like this: yesterday I inspected the tomatoes very meticulously, and saw in between the +/- 40 tomatoes 2 (two) that that were really red. I tasted them, its as if I ate little waterballoons, no tomato-taste at all. No taste at all, I mean..just watery and mushy. So these green ones are unripe. And the red ones are yucky. Bought the wrong seedlings this year methinks :/ > >>> Or, look up the recipe from "Fried green tomatoes at the Whistle Stop >>> Cafe" >>> :-) >> >> I saw that film 1 month ago, thought of the same, but no idea.. >> >> M. > > The book has several recipes. Pickled green tomatoes are made form unripe tomatoes that woudl become red if left on the plant. They are often make late in the season if frost is expected so the tomatoes won't have time to ripen, as they have not yet begun to lighten in color, preceedign the reddening process. If still truely green even thougth full grown, they will not ripen off the plant so get turened into the pickles for winter use. Wendy |

Heirloom tomatoes exist because somebody liked their flavor. > > > > >>> Or, look up the recipe from "Fried green tomatoes at the Whistle Stop > >>> Cafe" > >>> :-) > >> > >> I saw that film 1 month ago, thought of the same, but no idea.. > >> > >> M. > > > > The book has several recipes.
