Welcome menu changes
Last night my daughter and I went to the Cuttlefish Cafe in Manly QLD.
We had 4 tapas between us, fresh prawns, marinated octopus with salad, oysters Kilpatrick and lemon pepper calamari. I was amazed at the fact that they had gf after a number of menu items. We had looked at the outside menus of about a dozen different places before we chose this place and all had gf on items too. Some even had low carb after some items. http://www.cuttlefishcafe.com/tapas_menu_10.html I am trying to fins out the dressing on the octopus salad. I can't place the flavours at all. The hunky American waiter said it was some kind of vinaigrette :) (my daughter kept asking him questions to here his voice...lol) I saw capers in it. The dressing coated the salad veggies rather had them swim in it. As a lot of the menu had a strong Spanish influence I am wondering if it is a Spanish style dressing. I will try googling it. |

I love tapas! Well, some of it anyway. We had tapas at a place with outdoor seating, somewhere on the East Coast. I think it was WA DC, but can't remember for sure because we went to so many different places on that trip. Also ate at a little hole in the wall Spanish place. I remember having some really good potatoes there. I have heard that Australia is very good for dining out with GF stuff. Some of the food that I mail order comes from there. |

Its totally different here in QLD, not sure Coles even stock it anymore. It was disappointing to say the least. We thought we were getting baby occies last night in the occy salad. I had already asked the waiter if they were bbq'ed or if they were slimy :) I don't like slimy. Bbq'ed has a cooked chicken type texture and dry on the outside. Anyways, the occy wasn't a baby as such (and it wasn't slimy), it was all tentacles (again unexpected) cut into pieces about 2 inches long. The tentacles were thicker and larger than a baby but not really as big as most occies I have seen. |
