Scissors too tight to open.
 

I realize these don't fall under kitchen equipment, but the concept is
the same.

I purchased these scissors and they are so tight that I cannot get
them apart/closed comfortably enough to use them. http://tinyurl.com/2epo54

Can anyone help with an idea what to do; if it is oiling, what kind of
oil? sewing machine oil?
I don't want them slippery at all, as I am not allowed to cut
myself.

Great looking scissors, but..
They remind me of the Thermapen thermometer that I bought. I had to
return them twice to get one that would work, but they never did
loosen up completely. They told me to work it (them) back and forth
several hundred times to loosen it up -- LOL. So DH had to do it for
me. It didn't do a darned thing.

Any help loosening up these darned scissors.
My fingers and arm are hurting already - not kidding!

But if you do loosen the screw, it may not want to hold that setting. If so,
just loosen or remove it, add a drop of blue Loctite, and adjust again. It
should then hold.

DH will loosen it. He has Loctite if it doesn't hold.

Well, the screw is too tight to loosen without stripping.
Any other suggestions.

Wow.

If the resistance is from the metal faces near the screw, a drop of machine oil
or automobile engine oil in there might do the trick.

But if it's the blade edge contact that is causing the resistance, with blades
that short, I don't think there's any way you could bend one blade very slightly
outward to make it easier. You'd be better off returning them, explaining the
situation, and asking if this is normal.

Did you buy them in a Brookstone B&M store, or online/mail order? They're pretty
good about returns, aren't they?

I'm thinking the best thing to do is return them -- although it might
be more than 30 days until DH gets back to return them where he bought
them for me -- the Mohegan Casino in Connecticut -- no, he hates
gambling, but wanders around the shopping area and offsite shopping in
Borders, etc. while he drops off his 80+ father at the casino. I had
been looking online for a good pair and saw these, knowing he would be
shopping there.

I don't know what a Brookstone "B&M" store is -- tell me. I just
looked up their locations and see that there is a store in VA @
Fairfax Fair Oaks Mall which I might get to before then. Thanks for
