Default Book review - Born to be Good by Dacher Keltner

Born to be Good by Dacher Keltner
subtitled "The Science of a Meaningful Life.

Covers what animals and homo sapiens have in common
emotionally and the chemical oxtocin which makes us happy
and how it is produced by interaction with other humans.
It shows how my chocolate use is a chemically justified
way of being happier.

Why is society disintegrating and why do men
and women go to prostitutes and have affairs?
All due to the exaggerated culture of emotional
suppression by withdrawal of touch in childhood imo.

Well this also covers the organs of compassion
especially the Vagus nerve and how its activity impresses
us.

Not quite easily readable but stick to it and
you will find it rewarding,

"It is by will alone I set my mind in motion.
It is by the beans of cacoa that the thoughts acquire speed,
the thighs acquire girth, the girth become a warning.
It is by theobromine alone I set my mind in motion."
--from Someone else's Dune spoof ripped to my taste.
