It varies by state, but most if not all states allow you bring in
a small amount for "personal consumption."

I was in the outer banks NC & a couple of counties were dry - but you could get a beer with a meal

Yes, there are areas. I also noticed, when I was in Utah, that it's all terrible beer (so I perfer to do without) and you need to give everything but a sperm sample to get it. Just weird.

I think that Lynchburg, where Jack Daniels is made is still dry.
