I'm planning a trip to Boston and need the skinny on where to find the good
beer. I made the mistake of asking the same question of the group who's planning the event, to which I was advised of a pub selling $1 glasses of PBR. Arrrgh! Your suggestions are much appreciated. fr0glet |

Two locations in Boston, one across from Fenway Park and one down the street from North Station. One location in Salem. John Harvards. Two locations, one in Harvard Sq, Cambridge, and one in Shopper's World, Natick. Watch City. Moody St, Waltham. Cambridge Brewing, Kendal Sq, Cambridge Beer bars: Bukowski. Dalton St, Back Bay, Boston Doyle's. 3484 Washington Street, Jamaica Plain, Boston. Jacob Wirth, Stuart St, downtown Boston. Redbones, Davis Sq, Somerville. Sunset Grill & Tap, Brighton Av, Allston, Boston. And these are just the ones I can recall off hand. -- Jeffrey Kaplan <*> www.gordol.org The from userid is killfiled <*> Send personal mail to gordol "OK, OK, next time I'll give him a live gun. Also, not all of these are brewpubs, but you did mention that you were
looking for "good beer." Anam Cara, Redbones and Buks are some of the better beer bars in the area. All worth a visit. There's also Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery on Stuart Street, but the beers are a bit corporate-brewpub-chain-style at this location and dumbed down for the theatre crowd. I'd also highly recommend The Tap / Haverhill Brewery, it's an hour ride on the commuter rail, but well worth the visit. Tod Mott is brewing some damn tasty brews here!! You can catch the train out of North Station, and it drops you off practically at the front door. -- Todd Alström, Founder http://BeerAdvocate.com -- BeerAdvocate.com Extreme Beer Fest 01.17.04 - The Cyclorama @ The Boston Center for the Arts http://beeradvocate.com/events/extreme_2004.php -- "Todd Alström" > wrote in message . net... > Check these out for starters: > > = Anam Cara (Brookline) > = RedBones (Somerville) > = Cambridge Brewing Company > = Boston Beer Works (Fenway or North Station) > = John Harvard's Brew House (Cambridge) > = Bukowski's Tavern (Boston or Cambridge) > > http://beeradvocate.com/beerfly/city/3/ > > Click on the above link for more suggestions, addresses, maps and reviews. > > Have fun! > > -- > Todd Alström, Founder > http://BeerAdvocate.com > -- > BeerAdvocate.com Extreme Beer Fest > 01.17.04 - The Cyclorama > @ The Boston Center for the Arts > http://beeradvocate.com/events/extreme_2004.php > -- > > |

Their beers at the Braintree location also taste "dumbed down". They do have location going for them, though. I'm still upset that Quincy Ships closed. Very good brewpub in both beer and food. Lousy location, though. ; I'd also highly recommend The Tap / Haverhill Brewery, it's an hour ride on ; the commuter rail, but well worth the visit. Tod Mott is brewing some damn ; tasty brews here!! If it is the same person, then that IS a good selection of brews. -- Jeffrey Kaplan <*> www.gordol.org The from userid is killfiled <*> Send personal mail to gordol "THE PSICORPS IS YOUR FRIEND. > it is the same person, then that IS a good selection of brews. Tod has brewed at Catamount, Harpoon (created their original IPA), Commonwealth, Back Bay, Quincy Ships and now The Tap. BeerAdvocate.com is planning another trip up there in support of Tod's efforts. You should come with us if you're in the area. Keep an eye on http://beeradvocate.com/events/ for upcoming details. Last time I was there he also had on his Oktoberfest, which he brewed with Horst Dornbusch, his wonderful Alt (drool) and about 5 other brews. All were insanely tasty. -- Todd Alström, Founder http://BeerAdvocate.com -- BeerAdvocate.com Extreme Beer Fest 01.17.04 - The Cyclorama @ The Boston Center for the Arts http://beeradvocate.com/events/extreme_2004.php -- |

I first heard of him in conjunction with Commonwealth, who's beers were great. Back Bay was an inconvenient place for me to get to, but when I moved to Quincy, I found Quincy Ships by accident (I was doing a "where's the supermarket? Where's the CVS?" self-tour, and went, "Oh! A brewpub! Cool!") and then later found out that Tod was the brewer. -- Jeffrey Kaplan <*> www.gordol.org The from userid is killfiled <*> Send personal mail to gordol Peter's Top 100 Things I'd Do If I Ever Became An Evil Overlord, #34.
