Default Lexington, NC Barbecue Festival Bill Proposal

"Barbecue festival bill proposal

Some local legislators have filed a bill to make the Lexington Barbecue
Festival the official barbecue festival of North Carolina. Tuesday's
Winston-Salem Journal reports that Davidson county Representatives
Jerry Dockham and Hugh Holliman introduced the bill in the House.
Davidson County Senator Stan Bingham is expected to run the bill in the
Senate. No word though on when that will happen."

I wonder how that will go over with the organizers of the Blue Ridge BBQ
Festival. According to their website
(http://www.blueridgebbqfestival.com/competition/):

"The heart and soul of the Blue Ridge Barbecue Festival is the barbecue
cook-off event. More than 90 teams from around the country are expected to
compete for over $20,000 in prize money. The Festival has been proclaimed
the Official North Carolina State Championship by former Governor Jim Hunt
and present Governor Mike Easley since 1994."
