Default Bad News: Monroe of course and Miranda (the Barbecue Widow) burnedout

I just got and e-mail from Miranda. They lost everything in a fire 3:00
AM, Wednesday. The escaped the fire with what they could grab on the way
out. Monroe has a 3rd degree burn on his back. Miranda's office was
destroyed, too.

They will probably have limited e-mail and usenet access until they get
some permanent shelter. The Red Cross is assisting them, but the RC is
stretched pretty thin right now. Is anyone physically close enough to
help them out?

OH MY GOD! That's terrible! Next time you talk to them, please give them
my best regards. I wish I could do something.

Geess that sucks.

I'm sorry to hear that and wish them the best recovery. Hopefully
Monroe's burn isn't too serious.

That's terrible news. I'm so sorry for them both. My heart goes out to
them. Matthew, thanks for passing that on and be sure to give them our best

The RC put them up in an Holiday Inn in Chapel Hill, NC. Unfortunately,

I'm outside of the distance where I could provide immediate help
(Poughkeepsie, New York). Do you know if there's anyone setting up a
charity fund for them?

Feeling equally helpless, I told 'em to come and stay at my house for as
long as they want. I'm stunned with sadness.

I don't know, and I don't know how to find out. Hopefully someone here
knows them in real life and can ferret out that information for us.

Matthew, please keep us informed as you receive information. This is a
shock, and I am willing to donate to any fund that is set up for them.

This is terrible news.

Who on the list in the NC area?

Perhaps someone nearby could set up a paypal account for them for
folks to send $$ to?

Thoughts and prayers going out to M & M.

I didn't realize they were so close. I'm in Durham, which is right down the
street. If there's anything I can do, let me know.

Maybe we could have a fundraising barbeque for them?
