Howdy,

What are some of the methods and materials used to tune your pit?

I have a Brinkman SNP offset smoker and I thought I had mine tuned
pretty well but apparently not, any help and or ideas would be
appreciated.

When I had one, I did the following:

1. Laid six 1"-thick bricks in a rectangular pattern in the firebox.
Laying the grill on top of the bricks raised it by a few inches, so
there was more room for airflow as ash accumulated.

2. Attached an empty tin can to the smoke stack, to bring it closer to
the grill.

Never got around to installing a metal baffle at the junction between
the firebox and smoking chamber, though I would recommend you do so.
Some guys have also used a high-temp automotive gasket material to
create a seal for the smoking chamber door.
