Default PREVENT MAD COW NOW!

Don't want a "Mad Cow" supplying your meat? Tired of going to the "Wally
World Super Center" to look at their almost green plastic wrapped garbage?
Check the net and check your local areas for small farm, grass fed beef.
See how the critter is grown. Dicker on the price. Have the butcher cut the
meat the way YOU want it cut. Grass fed is leaner, to me it tastes better,
and NO disease.
A side of beef cost me right at $300.00 2 months ago and instead of lining
some faceless monster like a Wal-Mart or for you West coasters Safeway or
Flemings with my hard earned retirement money, it went to an almost honest,
hardworking farmer.
IMHO

I take it you've never shopped, or eaten any meat from the latter two.

You should have some idea what you're talking about before you open
your mouth.

I make the hour and a half trip to Costco sometimes just for a meat
frezer run. Some of the best NY Strip steaks I ever found.

Since when? I get some damn fine tasty steaks and ribs from BJ's, and it's
always choice grade USDA certified.

I think it's worth looking into local producers anyway, if only to get
better tasting meat.

Hmmm.... I assume Walmart includes Sams? I have been quite happy with the
products I get at Sams and most of it is choice. While some of the stuff appears
vacuum packaged at the packers the local one seems to have a butcher or two on
staff that does alot of the cuts that are in the case.. I have even seem them
respond to special requests.

However while I do occasionally digress at Sams I fully agree with the basic
premise of this post which is to support you local small farmer / butcher instead
of big corperate America. Most of my meat is coming from a small local butcher
who in turn is purchasing local beef.
