Barbecue (alt.food.barbecue) Discuss barbecue and grilling--southern style "low and slow" smoking of ribs, shoulders and briskets, as well as direct heat grilling of everything from burgers to salmon to vegetables.

I found stainless beer can chicken stands at Wal-Mart for $6 a piece and
instead of wasting perfectly good beers I put scored lemons, oranges or
onions in the stands for slower cooking times and aroma. Three good size
birds fit perfectly in the bottom of the WSM.

That's Cabela's beer-can chicken sitter. The E-bay Entremanure wants
$27.99 for what appears to be the steel version. You can buy the same
thing for $14.99 at www.cabelas.com, or a stainless-steel model for
$19.99.

I still say that's ALCOHOL ABUSE

BOB
and a waste of good beer, too.

I found the Cabelas unit and even though it is identical right down to the
picture if I were to buy one I would definitely buy the more expensive one
from some whacko on Ebay than a reputable company at a lower price with a
return policy.

The one I got at walmart is a simple metal beer can cage maybe not stainless
but clean up well in the dishwasher. It's a welded wire stand for each
chicken. I have put the bigger birds on them without any trouble. I also use
an old two prong BBQ fork that I bent to make a hook I can use to lift the
entire cage out without dropping any chicken.

In my search I found this gizmo on the Cabelas Site that looks interesting
but expensive. It looks as if it would warm up nicely and help cook from the
inside out may be good for Turkey...

I dunno, I have been happy for a while with Captain Steve's beer can
roaster. http://www.beercanchickenroaster.com/

Disclaimer: I don't know Captain Steve, but I am a happy customer.

Whuh? Is there a word missing from that paragraph? Like the word
"not"?

Sorry nobody warned you. You have to consider the source of
some of the replies here. That particular dude is devorced from
reality.

Absolutely correct. For instance, he should take into consideration
that you have proven yourself a racist, half-literate bigot in this
very forum. Once he knows that, he can give your comments all the
consideration they deserve.

But he shouldn't take my word for it. Your words will do:

The second time around, sure. But not the first.
