Restaurant Review: Alligator Soul, Everett, WA.
Saturday we headed down to Seattle to pick up a vintage pachinko machine and
since it was around lunch time, we decided it wouldn't be too difficult to stop in to Alligator Soul and check it out. It wasn't difficult to find, as it had changed locations in the last few years and was in the place of another restaurant that DW and I had frequented a couple of times. Their newest location is pretty large. One side is "coffee shop", the other is "dining room", and they have a big lounge in the back. Although each part of the restaurant has a different feel to it, they both serve up the same stuff. Since it was lunch time and a new to us restauraunt, I didn't want to overindulge though I felt the need to sample everything on the menu. If you'd like to check their menu out, I've included a link to their website below. What we didn't know, was that they're currently running a Saturday "crawfish boil". That means they have a special crawfish menu, as well. And judging by the turn out, it's pretty popular. I watched piles of crawfish come out, with all the good stuff, corn on the cob, sausage, etc. and it looked *really* good. Of course this was after I'd already ordered... I had a fried shrimp po'boy and DW had the Southern Fried Pork po'boy. Both were very good, with fresh, crispy sourdough hoagie rolls, and tasty sides. We cut them in half and shared so we could sample them both. I preferred the shrimp over the pork, just because there was a bit more flavor to the shrimp, but both were very good. My favorite side of the salad trio was the sweet corn salad. We were both too full for dessert. Bummer too, they looked really good. Service was a bit slow, and our server didn't check back with us until nearly the end of our meal, but I let that slide since they got really busy, really fast, and only had three servers on for the entire restaurant. If you have a sensitive stomach, don't worry. Even though there's "Cajun" connotations, you don't need to think uber spicy, there's plenty of tasty, mild stuff on the menu. And if you're like me, one that likes a bit of heat in their food, no worries, with many of their dishes, they'll add some heat to it if you ask. http://www.alligatorsoulrestaurant.com/ --Brett |

I'll make sure to post to this thread again as I sample stuff. --Brett |

It's always good to have a list of local places to try when you're traveling. I figure between clams at Ivars and gumbo and ribs at Alligators I ought to be set. |

We're looking at a trip up to Olympic so that would definitely work. :-) |
