Yes, for roughly each part alcohol you create you create a part of
CO2, it's a lot of gas.
Maybe they expect you to leave the lid on loosely? It's not a good
plan but it's better than the top blowing off.
I have seen lids with a small rubber vent; when I buy juice they come
like that. Does your lid have that? If so, just make sure it does
not plug up and you should be OK. Otherwise I might drill a hole in
that lid and fit it with an airlock. If you have access to cork
borers they make a nice clean hole.
