Default Using apple tree prunings for smoking

Hi

I have a load of branches cut from my apple tree, some are dry and some are
still green. I've cut them up into small chunks to try and speed up the
drying process. They all still have the bark attached.

Is it ok to use the green ones for smoking or will they impart some horrible
flavour? Also should I remove the bark for the same reason?

Thanks
