I think that the food stamp program could be improved drastically. If
the choices were restricted to more along the lines of the WIC
programs, it would positively affect public health, and reduce
resentment toward participants in the program. Can anyone out there
make a good case for $20/# prime fillets being eligible?
Now, I'm not saying that it be as limited as WIC, but you've all seen
people using food stamps in ways that are indefensible, although
perfectly legal.
The way the system works now, it looks as if it were designed to
inspire hostility toward the poor. I ask, "Whose interest does THAT
serve?"
