On the TV show, yeah. When it comes to his own restaurant I doubt very
seriously he's yelling at a woman who is complaining about service to get
her boobs off his line! First of all, if you've ever worked in a restaurant
you know no patron would be allowed to get that close to the "line" which is
where they set out the plated dishes. Secondly, the chef isn't just
standing there looking at the plates or the boobs. Trust me, when the chef
at my last restaurant wanted to yell at someone he wasn't yelling at the
woman with the boobs who was complaining about the food because she wouldn't
have gotten that close to the kitchen line. He'd have been yelling at some
guy in the back for screwing it up. Yes, chefs do yell. Yes, they are
temperamental.
Having said that, there was a chef who opened his own restaurant here and he
was the epitome of polite. He'd come out and greet the customers, even sit
with them and offer free glasses of wine. He made fantastic Italian food.
His wife was the hostess on many nights and she was charming (if rather
plastic).
Unfortunately, despite wonderful and original food, the restaurant caved
within 2 years. Perhaps he should have been rude instead? Or maybe he
shouldn't have gone up against his wife's family, the Grisantis, who
practically own every Italian restaurant in the area and wanted to keep him
as a chef. At any rate, after a couple of years his business went under.
He's probably back in "the family" again... unless he divorced Danette.
Then who knows where he is. Heh.
