Default Indian Mangoes, China and Irony

I heard the other day that, after years of considerable lobbying, the US
is finally going to allow the import of Indian mangoes. I've heard
Madhur Jaffrey wax eloquent about them several times now and although my
preference is for locally raised food, it should be interesting to see
what these new mangoes taste like. What I fear is that in order to get
them here in one piece, they might be just as flavorless as the ones we
previously obtained here in the States. Hopefully, for those of us who
enjoy mango salsa and chutney, the Indian mangoes will be awesome!

And as for China, don't you find it the slightest bit ironic that we've
been importing all these substandard (even contaminated) foods from
China for years, but mangoes from India were forbidden?
