Default Applesauce - Splenda?

I put only a small amount of sweetener in my applesauce. I made a batch last night, not
to can, but just to put in the kids' lunches (maybe two quarts worth) and I added about an
eighth of a cup of sugar. But I had sweet apples and probably didn't need any at all.
Now, if you use Granny Smith apples, you definitely do need sugar unless you want to
pucker up.
