One thing that I've noticed is that a number of groups that used to
have great contributors have become mere shells of their old selves.
Two glaring examples are rec.travel.air and alt.radio.talk.dr-laura.
Both went from being invigorating places with knowledgeable posters to
mere "troll traps". Both are absolutely worthless for discussing
(respectively) air travel and socio - political issues...

Maybe a lot of old - timers just got fed up or bored or decided to
move on or whatever...has happened to me with some of my interests.
