We like the Kuhn-Rikon Y-shaped peelers.

I can truthfully say that we've never worn one out, although that may be
because they get discarded with the peeling scraps with disappointing
frequency.

This may actually be a good argument for a compost heap, which can at
least be rooted through to find the discarded peeler, unlike the
landfill.
