We always try and make reservations a few weeks in advance since often the
whole family goes and that 17 people in total. They don't take reservations
for that large a party on the weekends typically. Going when it is just the
five of us is a little easier to get in, but vertally not a walk in.

Since I haven't lived here very long, we took the recommendation of my
parents and were relatively pleased when we went for my hubby's birthday.

No haven't ever been there so I need to add that to our list of places to
try. We don't go to SF as often as I would like though we have neighbors who
commute to the bay every day for work, I think of 10 miles as damn near too
far for a commute anymore. But that's just me.
We have found a couple of restaurants here in Modesto that are really
exceptional. We seem to be inundated with "chains" here though and so I
would usually rather just eat at home most of the time.
Thanks for the suggestion.
