Default chopping board and PVA adhesive

PVA glues do not have gap-filling abilities. Assuming you can clean out
the crack- any oil in there would make it very difficult for glue to
adhere- I would make a thick paste of very fine sawdust- you can buy
"wood flour"- and Titebond, which is non-toxic. Press that into the
crack, leaving it a bit higher than the surface. Let it cure overnights
and scrape it smooth.
