My family will bring home leftovers, but other than at work, where
someone will bring back appetizers from the chinese buffet takeout,
I've never had anyone bring out leftovers to share.

Tell them next time, you'd love to join them for dinner, and the two of
you can share the plate so there are no slobbered leftovers. OTOH, if
you hang around with people who drool in their food, what does that say
about you?
