I always liked Tucker's in Soulard, decent and reasonable steaks in an
old tavern atmosphere. Also Patty Long's doe brunch, both when it was
in Lafayette Square and then when it moved to that old church in
Soulard (don't know if it's open anymore, in any case it's been a few
years since I've been down)...there are several cozy 'n casual places
in Soulard, especially nice in the winter months if you dig fireplaces
and fried ravioli. I also liked the dining room at Clem's, good cheap
eats.
I always used to GORGE on Jack - In - The - Box aka Jackoff - In - The
- Box when I was down there, we don't have them in Chicawgo...sheer
nirvana after a hard night's drinking.
And I liked visiting the Eye - talian delis on The Hill...and of course
the Soulard Farmer's Market, especially around the winter holidays.
One New Year's Eve (my birthday) we went out west to a fried catfish
place, it was not fancy but it was good stuff AND all - you - can -
eat.
The King And I on Grand is fine for Thai food, there is also a Viet
place on Grand that we fancied, super spring rolls. Had some good grub
at the South City Diner in that area too...
