Default "Healthful" and "Wholesome" are just synonyms

>(Nancree)

>"Healthful" and "Wholesome" are simply synonyms for each other--see Merriam
>Webster Dictionary.

Synonymous does not necessarily indicate equal... here each word confers
different implications., ie. a food can be wholesome but not necessarily
healthful, and vice versa. <shoofly pie can be wholesome but not healthful>.
Many so-called comfort foods are wholesome but not necessarilly healthful. A
food can be healthful (milk) but not necessarily wholesome (soured). A person
can engage in healthful activitiy but that activity may not be a wholesome
activity, ie. a guy fornicating with his neighbor's wife/daughter/mother. See
the difference?

M-W

HEALTHFUL implies a positive contribution to a healthy condition <a healthful
diet>.

WHOLESOME applies to what benefits, builds up, or sustains physically,
mentally, or spiritually <wholesome foods> <the movie is wholesome family
entertainment>.
