McDonalds in Chinatown...
I went to see the Chinese New Year parade in San Francisco yesterday
and I was appalled to see a McDonalds float. Not only that, but they
had set up a McDonalds tent in the vendor area, featuring cute little
Asian boys and girls along with the evil Ronald McDonald clown.
I absolutely despise McDonalds, I have been boycotting them for nearly
20 years. I've decided that people will buy moldy dog shit if you
market it heavily enough, and that is what McDonalds does. My insane
brother came to visit me last year and we went to SF and despite being
surrounded by a several thousand excellent and inexpensive Asian
restaurants, he didn't want to eat at any of them, he absolutely had
to eat at McDonalds.
Asians currently have some of the highest life expectancies of any
ethnic group, widely believed to be a result of their diet. I've never
seen a fat Asian kid, and here the evil clown is encouraging them to
ingest lethal amounts of saturated fat.
Why was McDonalds allowed to participate in the parade? Every culture
has good and bad parts, and in this case the best aspect of Asian
culture is their food and it is being replaced by our worst aspect of
mass-market blandness. I consider McDonalds to be an affront to
American culture, and to try to impose it on Asians by brainwashing
their kiddies with a slant-eyed Ronald McDonald is just disgusting.
