I haven't tried it, but I wonder if you could place
the sliced onions between paper towels and roll them
with a rolling pin. That would crush them, but maybe
that wouldn't matter. It should squeeze the juice
out of them. And it would be faster than baking
or frying, and it would not dirty up a pan.
