Hello Andrew,
Yeah I bought the latest edition of Winestate. Its good, I probably like
Gourmet Traveller Wine more though mostly because of the layout and the
structure.
I'm not a huge fan of the 5 star system, but Gourmet Wine seems to have
more 5 star entries. Winestate doesn't seem to have cellaring potential
advice on most of their notes. I also find Winestates notes a little
spartan on each wine.
Visually Gourmet Wine is more accessable straight away, more appealing.
But Winestate is too an excellent mag, despite my quibbles.
I haven't really started reading the articles yet though, so I can't
really comment on what level they are at.
I also bought Australian Wine Selector. I'm not a big fan of this at
all. It looks a bit low budget, especially compared to the others. There
is also the fact it is almost totally devoid of tasting notes and
instead filled with fluff pieces and general interest stories.
Thanks a lot,
Mat.
