Default suggest a toaster broiler

The old Krups toaster broiler has died. We paid $75 for it 2 years ago.
Now it doesn't work. The nearest authorized repair shop is over an
hour's drive. The 3 other listed authorized dealers in the area have
disconnected phones. The one that's in business says over the phone
that he can't get replacement parts for the particular problem with our
toaster broiler, that when that breaks and the machine is still under
warrante he replaces the whole thing. The corporate office confirms
that we can't get the part to fix it ourselves. Needless to say, we
won't be buying from Krups again. A $75 machine shouldn't break and
need replacement every 2 years.

We like having a toaster broiler for toast and for those times when we
want to bake or brown something on top without heating up the whole huge
full-size oven. It is nice to have something with a good temperature
control. The timer is a pleasant bonus but not strictly necessary. Any
suggestions for what we should buy?
