Red Lobsters Garlic and Cheese Biscuits
Note: These will be a heavier type biscuit.
2 cups White Lily or Martha White Self Rising Flour
1/4 cup Crisco vegetable shortening
1/4 to 1/2 cup buttermilk or milk (as needed)
1/2 cup grated, sharp cheddar cheese
1/4 cup butter, melted
1 tablespoon dried parsley
1 or 2 cloves fresh garlic, crushed, peeled, finely minced
1/2 to 1 teaspoon oregano or Italian seasoning
1 or 2 tablespoon granulated sugar (optional)
1/2 teaspoon table salt
Preheat Oven to 500 Degrees F. Place flour in mixing bowl and with a
fork or pastry blender, cut in shortening until mixture is coarse and
crumbly. Add milk and rest of ingredients. Mix with a fork or by hand
until dough leaves sides of bowl. Place dough o a clean, lightly floured
surface. Flour your hands and knead dough lightly 10 or 12 times. Roll
out dough 1/2 to 1 inch thick (as preferred). Cut biscuits and place
about 1 inch apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake for about 8 to 10
minutes until lightly golden brown.
Red Lobsters Garlic and Cheese Biscuits
1 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 tablespoon sugar
1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 cup vegetable shortening
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Combine flour, salt, baking powder, cream of tartar, sugar, and
garlic powder in a mixing bowl. Cut in shortening using a pastry
blender. Mix milk and then cheese into mixture with a wooden spoon. Drop
by large spoonfuls onto greased baking sheet. Bake at 425 degrees F for
10 to 12 minutes.
Topping:
2 tablespoons melted butter
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
Mix melted butter and garlic powder together and brush on warm biscuits
as soon as you remove them from the oven. (These are very similar to Red
Lobster's Cheddar Bay Biscuits but a lot better than the recipes that
start with Bisquick, in my opinion).
Seasoned Butter Topping:
6 tablespoons margarine, melted
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon parsley, freeze-dried
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Mix together all ingredients. Brush on biscuits immediately after
taking from oven. Enough for 10 biscuits
