Review: Sample of Adagio's Dragonwell
Described as a First Grade version, I thought it would be better to do a
side-by-side comparison with my standard ZG71 Superfine from Upton.
First off, the dry leaf in the opened tin didn't have an aroma while the tea
from Upton has a thoroughly noticeable smell. Brewing both w/ 1 tsp. in 8
oz, 165F for 2-3/4 min. yielded liquors of the same color, but the Adagio
didn't provide the scent and sipping a teaspoon didn't yield a flavor close
to the Upton's Lung Ching so, I continued the infusion to the recommended 3
min.
It didn't help. Described as "refreshingly smooth, sweet and delicate," it
left an appalling aftertaste reminiscent of the decaf green tea from
Celestial Seasonings that I once brewed up way past the expiration date.
I immediately dumped both the liquid and the contents of the sample tin and
am now sipping more of the Upton to remove the bad experience from my mouth.
