Default Dinner Tonight - Thank you Trader Joe's

I came home from my last round of chemo, dropped off Mom who mostly
drove, went to TJ's next door. It's hubbie's birthday, poor guy, worse
luck to have a birthday on the night your wife has her last chemo
infusion.

I'm normally not the biggest Trader Joe's fan - I don't care for all
that pre-packaged stuff. BUT - I found more than $100 worth of
provisions. Dinner was a Niman Ranch hormone free london broil; spring
greens, organic cherry tomatoes for salad; pre-sliced crimini mushrooms
and some frozen sliced red peppers for an olive oil/garlic sautee, also
some organic potatoes hubby won't eat but I did. Dessert was frozen
mixed berries, defrosted and served with half n half and sweeteners
(splenda for him, sugar for me).

Healthy, colorful, tasty, extravagant (there was also some dark
chocolate on sale; bought wine as well but since i'm not drinking -
meds- he didn't want any). So thank you TJ's for helping this poor
hairless woman put on a decent birthday dinner for her beloved husband,
who really deserves it.

I also bought - organic chicken stock - cheap; frozen artichoke hearts;
grass fed beef hamburger patties; Niman ranch beef stew meat; milk,
cage free eggs, parsley, 3 bottles of Glass Mountain wine, claims to be
from a very fine Napa Winery that rhymes with Spark'em. Any guesses,
you wine geeks?

Hubby is getting a large Circuit City object later, but for tonight I
bought him a potted plant and a TJ's card ($.99, great colors, original
art, very good quality)

OK, I'm sold on Trader Joe's. If you shop carefully, keeping prices in
mind, and dont' blow all your money on prepared foods, you can get
great deals while eating well.
