Time-release niacin may be more comfortable, but when I was going to the
lipid center at UCSF, the doctor told me they wished they could get
time-release niacin off the market because it is so much more injurious
to the liver than regular niacin. So if anyone needs to take large
amounts of niacin for cholesterol control, avoid the time-release
stuff.
