I tried posting this on rec.food.recipes, but no dice.
Chayote is not an Asian pear. It is called a christophene in the West
Indies. It is, in fact, closer to a hard cucumber than an Asian pear.
Make a salad with either, but don't expect them to taste anywhere near
the same.
