For nuts I was an oval Krups coffee grinder. The old model. The new model
has the blades too low and aren't good for nuts. To get an old one I went
onto eBay. Never used old ones are readily available for less than new
ones. How to tell:
Looking at the blade the old one has both ends pointing up. New has one up
and one down. The old has a completely flat bottom below the blades. The
new has the blades coming out of a mound in the bottom surface. Also look
at the bottom and see where it was made. The old was Hong Kong and the new
is France or Mexico.
I don't bother cleaning the grinder but about once a year. I use it daily.
For spices I use a new Krups grinder. Both the round and the oval one work
well. It is also dedicated to the task. (I don't grind coffee beans.)
All of these are plastic and none are dishwasher safe!
