Bagel Salt

I think Joe's idea will work just fine.
I own a bagel shop, and of coarse I salt mine before proofing, but
whatever makes the salt stick will be great.
Also, you could ask the bakery to par-bake and freeze a tray of plain
bagles for you, so you could then take them home, wet and salt them,
(just dunk them completely in warm water), dab them into the salt and
complete baking them.
Use simple pretzel salt. Many bagel shops would prolly be willing to
sell you a pound or two for very little money.
