You don't HAVE to use the alcohol. A lot of people like the extra
flavour of a little brandy or rum, because they're traditionally
associated with Christmas. If you don't want to use them or don't like
the flavour then just leave it out! Your fruitmince will still have
plenty of flavour from all the dried fruit...
