I'm not crazy about cookie baking, and the one recipe I tried (some
pilaf with shrimp) didn't bowl me over, but Davidson's books are fun
to read, although very much of the HIBK ("had I but known...")
variety.

Another favorite is Philip (Phillip?) Craig's mystery series based on
Martha's Vineyard. Just a few recipes in each, but lots of food
description.
