My wife had cataract surgery about 5 years ago. It was a breeze.
Problems popped up a few months later. She had a problem with one eye
are Christmas and went to the ER where she was told it was just a
floater, but was referred to an ophthamologist first thing the next
morning and he said it as a retinal hemmorhage and sent her back to the
hospital and met her there and hour later and he lasered it to stick it
to the back of the eye. She had a similar problem a few months later
with the other eye and was again told it was a floater and referred to
the ophthamologist again and saw him just a couple hours later. He said
it was a detached retina and referred to a colleague in another city. We
saw him that afternoon and she had the surgery the next morning.
Surgery was a snap. The after care was another matter. She had to lie
face down 24/7 for 10 days. That was an ordeal.
