'Dealing' with them also includes going to the slammer if someone else
does the dirty deed for you. (Charles Manson).

Try giving that excuse to the cops. "No, it wasn't me because if I were
planning to kill him, I wouldn't have bragged about it ahead of time."
Despite it not being a bright idea, people do actually make such threats.

Probably you are in the best position to accurately make that assessment.
I say this despite that you & John both have a lot of old baggage looping
on the carousel of unfulfilled dreams.

It was not me. Perhaps I said something that was misconstrued. I'm pretty
sure Steve always speaks the literal truth, but he does have a knack of
pre-loading context with ambivalent statements that increase the
likelyhood of making an errant assumption. (I can say this because I am a
master of this rhetorical tool.)

I know deep down that nobody (including you) are about killing. As you
may or may not have realized by now, the tensor I use to map between
objective & subjective reality is skewed about the vector of deliberate
death. For legal reasons, I cannot elaborate publicly.
Also, +1 for ignoring the anchovy troll.
