It was more than 15 years ago that I had a fall off a ladder. I was
cleaning the eaves trough. I was at the front corner where there is an
overhang. I used to climb up the ladder and get in the overhang and
could reach the eaves on the second story from there. I had the ladder
at what I thought was an appropriate angle. I was just about to get into
the overhang when the ladder kicked out. I went down. One leg slipped
between two rungs, and when I hit the ground my other leg landed on the
ladder shoving it back into the shin of the one that was between the rungs.

I was in some serious pain. I thought I had broken my shin bone. I went
to the ER and had to wait about 4 hours. As it turned out, nothing was
broken. I got some pain meds. Shortly after than I bought some good
quality gutter guards so I won't ever again have to climb up there to
clean gutters.
