Except when I quit my job to spend 8-1/2 months writing *Winter's Present*.
Even though that was a bad decision from an economic perspective, I can't
regret it. Whatever anyone else thinks about the book, I think it's brilliant in
its own way, and worth every penny of lost income. The process of writing it
challenged my mental health, as I dug deeply into all of my personal
vulnerabilities without reservation.
