Color is the only reason. Less expensive than replacing the tiles. With
the proper primer, it can be fine to do.

No need to spend time to strip to bare wood unless you want the
varnished wood-grain look. Stripping paint off of cabinets is a big mess
to do. They're already painted. Just clean them well and repaint to white.

I like white kitchen cabinets...goes with any wall color plus they
really brighten up a kitchen.

I painted my old stained and varnished kitchen cabinets to all white
many years ago.
