What's the transmission source of the signal you want for local
channels? Is it broadcast from a relay transmitter (like a big radio
mast sited on land) to an antenna on your house, or is it available
from a satellite (in the sky) to a dish on your house.

In UK a satellite dish doesn't pick up signal from a transmitter
mast, and vice versa. YMMV
