Iīm going to piggyback my answer to your other ring-necked pheasant post. I
accidentally erased that one. A reasonable man would suppose that the
pheasant was a ring-necked. Even I would. Nowadays, google allows people to
conveniently see actual pictures.
I never shot a hen ring-necked pheasant. Hen pheasants are illegal to shoot
in my state. My wife suggested it was a golden pheasant to me, so I googled
to prove her wrong. I canīt.
The feather barring is much closer to a golden pheasant, from the photos
easily available, than to a ring-necked. Neither are native to my backyard. I
simply donīt know the species. I do know that I was looking at a hen.
