It's interesting how a person's concert going experience differs according to generational differences and where you grew up. You saw people like Roy Clark and maybe Jose Feliciano and other lounge act types. I saw arena acts like Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and the Doors. If I was a little younger, and lived in the mid-West, it would be completely different. I'm talking about those boys from St. Louis, of course.
By the eighties, I was mostly not interested in seeing anybody that passed through this rock.
Kenny Rankin was one of the last concerts my wife and I went to. He played a Guild guitar that band leader/conductor/arranger Don Costa gave him back in the 60's. It was gratifying to see what a single guy, alone on stage, with an old guitar and a smooth as velvet voice, can do.
The last concert we went to was Leo Kottke. We saw him twice. We'll probably see him again if he hasn't croaked and passes through again.
